WANT TO...

WANT is the most strongly imbibed word in my dictionary. The word I find many ignoring, using it alternatively with have, must, should etc etc. I was in school when one of my teacher's introduced me to this concept of WANT.

We were told you must do what you WANT to do and not what you have to or what you should do. In fact if you go to observe, a lot of people say that they have to do something, but its actually the fact that they want to do a particular thing, but don't really admit it.

So I conclude, that its either the fact that you want to or don't want to do it. Not necessarily that you can't do it.

So where does the want lead us all to???

We live with the want, the desire, the passion, the love of doing something, the belief that we can do it. And all of this comes from the basic - WANT. I believe that if we REALLY want to do something we should not be not be bothered about whether or not we can do it, whether or not the outcome would be in our favor. We should just make a headway for it and get it done.

The question is always DO YOU WANT TO DO IT??? Don't think beyond it...

The Marathon Madness!!!

The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, creates waves in the city. The madness, the zeal, the energy, the enthusiasm, its MADDENING!!!!

I have now been a part of the SCMM for the last 2 years and the energy levels are just more everytime that I am there. Last year I was there as an organizer, this year I was there as a participant. But the experience both ways, has been exhilarating. When you see, thousands of people running on course, not to win but to have fun, its amazing what it does to u. You suddenly feel a part of everyone and you look at everyone with awe and amazement. Dream Run - I think they have very aplty named it, its a dream come true. To go back home and tell your family and friends that you were a part of the Mumbai Marathon. Whether or not you ran the actual marathon, then does not matter.

Well, coming back to the marathon madness... The marathon that runs across the city, not only catched the enthusiasm of the people running, but also the people who are not running. Across the course, we found people out if thier houses down on the road, on their windows, terraces, balconies, out there to cheer us all. With the "Run Mumbai Run" echoing the roads of Mumbai, you feel a part of the city that you have never before felt.

I am a great fan of Mumbai - completely in love with the city (and very sensitive on that front). Its a great feeling of pride to see people to cheering for you. They don't know you, and don't care either. For them you are a participant of an event that makes the city proud and they are out to support you to their best.

Think for a minute, after all the madness of the Marathon, you actually sit back to think, who was that person who was cheering when I passed by? Would I ever see them again, would I know them when I see them? Would I ever meet them? Yes I think we will, again next year at the Mumbai Marathon. They would still be there cheering for you or maybe better still, this time running with you.

So see you all the madness again next year!!!!And here is a small moment with Rahul Bose - The brand ambassador for Mumbai Marathon this year. The guy is truly amazing!!!

POT OF GOLD - A Leaf out of my Diary...

Life and its unexpected twists and turns, the spontaneity of life, the promptness of its course. I find it difficult to comprehend it at times. You want to interpret it your way, unknown of what it actually might be. And, hence, there lingers a thought in your mind - life is so uncertain, should I think about its events or should I let it pass. Then comes the part where you contemplate whether or not you should interpret it your way. Coz in any case, life will keep moving the way it wants to; ruled by its elder sibling - Destiny. Many of us say, "I make my own destiny". Well, really?? Do you?? I would say - You only perform and make your Plan B in place. You dont make destiny. Then again I think is it true??? Well, I guess it is. To an extent yes and to an extent no... Thats a better way of putting it I guess. Dunno how much sense it makes though.

You make destiny a little way through and then destiny makes you the other little way through. The point where we both meet is what we call our PRESENT. With the past gone by and future uncertain - brings to the same question - "How do I interpret the things of my life?? What meaning do I derive out of it?? Should I try and control it or should I just play alongside??

Full of questions!!!! Thats what is life is about, I guess. Lots of questions and hidden answers to all of them as well. Answers, we don't see out and plain. Answers - we find on introspection of self, of the surroundings, of the situations. But answers exist. Deep down somewhere within us - just a little effort from our end and we would see them all. And when we find these answers to all our questions - we hit the POT OF GOLD!!!

The Pot of Gold, we read about, in the fairy tales - that existed at the bottom of the rainbow. No wonder people call life a Journey. A journey in search of this pot of gold. A journey of new discoveries, new revelations. A journey to the rainbow, to the pot of gold.

Just a little wish for all of us - "May we all hit the pot of gold in this lifetime."

WONDERING AT TECHNOLOGY................

Sitting in the IT lecture is not really my idea of an interesting lecture... but dont have a choice i guess. Well, yesterday was one of our last IT lectures, and as the prof showed us all kinds of parts of the CPU... I began to wonder...

(For all engineers and comp savvy guys... try and be a lay man and put forth your abstract mind when you read this ahead...)

I wonder at the technology of the PC. Maybe you wud say nothing rocket science about it - now that we consider it so small and insignificant and look for better things. But this little thing that I see amazes me beyond expression. Come to think of it, these little chips and small "dot" like structures manage all kind of our work on the computer. Processing info digitally, passing it onto from one PC to another.

Can u imagine... all this that I write here is actually stored in the form of 0s and1s.... I have tied to imagine these as LITTLE PEOPLE who live inside my PC and do my work. These little creatures inside, perhaps out of a fairy tale are guys wiht tiny hands and feet and little squeaky voices. They pass commands to each other as and when I demand things from them.

When we analyse we write, add, subtract, multiply, calculate etc etc.. and when the PC analuses, it just does it - like the snap of the hand. Have you ever tried to imagine how the data would "LOOK" like in the system... in the sense - whether it would have any shape and kind of pysical existence?? And try and imagine it has one. Then how would it be???

Try and visulaise how a processing inside would look like. I guess it should some fun!!

ARE YOU AN EXTREMIST???!!!

Living life at extremes, often viewed by people with raised eyebrows. So lets try and see what is this entire thing about EXTREMISM. Its all about black or white - there are no grey areas.

You either have it or you dont have it. You either do it or you dont touch it at all. You are either not bothered or you are extremely concerned. The best part is - you are SURE of what you do and you BELIEVE 100% in it. You dont regret what you do and would do things irrespective of the consequences - that again is subject to what it means to you.

I have been in and out of troubles owing to the extremes that I work on. Innumerable warnings, cautions and suggestions - but again they dont really matter if I am sure of what I am doing and believe it to be true. Yeah, very less consideration is given to what people think. Well, I must admit, at times I do like to believe that im not an extremist - but doesnt work for long for me.

What bothers an extremist the most??? Nothing I would say... they are out there to get it. How is not something that concern them as long as it is right. There is no mid way.

I wont try and argue or say that its good or bad being an extremist, but yes its not the generally acceptable norm of the society. Its beyond them - beyond the conformist thoughts and actions. Its a high spirited state of mind, full of vigour to do things and do them well.

So how do you deal with an extremist??? Do you like them??? Do you know them??? Do you understand them??? Do you think you are one of them???

Adoption - A thought...

Yeah, why should we adopt??? Does it make a difference??? Does it really help??? With hundreds of children homeless and many more to come into the world how can it make a difference at all???

Well try this out. Imagine yourself to be a 10 year old kid - alone on the streets or amongst many like you in an orphanage... what will it be that you would want the most??

Maybe or maybe not you feel what I feel. What is important is somewhere down the line, at any point in time in our life, we should do somthing that makes life beautiful for these little ones. Trust me its damn good to see that little sparkle in the eyes of these kids that can be brought about by us. Each one of us in a little way can make a big difference.

So see if you feel what i feel. Afterall World's a beautiful place and we just make it better.
